'Tis the Silly Season

Ok... I have been swamped with university exams and the like for a while now and haven't had time to post but I have taken some time out today to write a entry.

December has come around, again, and we have entered into what has been called "The Silly Season" as many things get very busy and life seems to just run away without you. I don't want to be cliche and say that we need to remember the "reason" or slow down, but remembering the reason does make this time of year better. But between getting presents for friends and family, end of year rush in the office, going on BBQ crawls between all kinds of acquaintances and long lost cousin's family, I find I have no time left. But these past few days have made me slow down a bit. I had a dear friend of mine pass away on Saturday afternoon. He was a fantastic man who has helped me a lot in life from when I was a teenager, he even helped me get to Japan. He was a dear friend that will be sorely missed. His funeral will be next week and I am looking forward to a celebration of his life.

But as Chirstmas comes closer and I think about the past year and what I have gone through, there have been many ups and downs. There have been struggles that have seemed to be almost impossible to get through. But there have been friends to get me through those struggles, even if they didn't know they were there. Thank you. I hope that in the coming months, I can be one of those friends to someone else. You never know what influence you might have to people who may be struggling with private issues. You can really make someone's day!
